HUS staff are not told about language pay supplements

A Swedish-speaking doctor says the overlooked benefit shows how Swedish is still pushed aside in care. HUS declined to comment to HBL.

Employees at HUS are not being informed that they may be entitled to a language pay supplement, even when they speak Swedish fluently. A Swedish-speaking doctor who spoke to HBL says the issue reflects a wider culture in which Swedish is given too little weight in healthcare.

The doctor says the missing information is about more than money, because it shows how bilingualism is handled in practice. When HBL asked for comment, HUS declined to give an interview, leaving unanswered how staff are meant to learn about the supplement.
