Finland's government has survived a confidence vote after the Social Democratic Party, the country's largest opposition party, moved to bring down the entire cabinet. The vote was tied to the government's Middle East policy and also concerned the defence minister.

Yle News reported that both the government and the defence minister came through the vote on Thursday. The result means the cabinet remains in office for now, although the political dispute over Finland's line on the Middle East is still unresolved.
