The first home you move into on your own does not need to be perfect. HBL’s message is that what matters most is whether the space works in practice and feels right for the person living there.

A sensible starting point is to focus on the essentials, take care of what you already have and get to know the new place over time. The idea is that a home can develop gradually, instead of needing to be finished all at once after moving day.
