A wartime bomb fuse was found in a yard in Hanko on Thursday, when Timo Hakulinen was moving a woodshed on his property. The object was discovered only 10 to 15 metres from his house, making it an unsettling find so close to home.
Hakulinen said the item looked dangerous, which is why it immediately raised concern. The case is a reminder that remnants linked to wartime explosives can still turn up in inhabited areas in Hanko.
