Katja Reponen’s repeated attempts to enter Aalto University’s film directing programme underline just how selective the field is. According to HS, she has applied for the same study place seven times without being admitted.

Aalto University selects only two students each year for the film directing track. That makes the programme one of the hardest in Finland to get into and shows how limited places can be in creative education, where demand is far greater than supply.
