Iran says it has reached an agreement with Oman over the Strait of Hormuz, but the waterway is still not set to reopen. According to Tehran, the key issue is whether the United States ends its blockade of Iranian ports.

Washington has also lowered expectations, saying the talks are taking time. The US side, which had earlier suggested a deal was close, now describes the Iranian negotiators as “extremely difficult people.”
