Shortage of hormone patches and sprays in Finland

There are no replacement products available, and anyone needing estrogen in another form must go through a doctor. The shortage affects medicines used to ease menopause symptoms.

Finland is facing a shortage of hormone patches and hormone sprays used to relieve menopause symptoms, HBL reports. For many patients, the treatment is meant to be a regular and straightforward part of care, but the products are now not available as usual.

There are no substitute products to switch to. Anyone who wants estrogen in another form must therefore contact a doctor, making access more dependent on an individual medical assessment and the availability of appointments.

The shortage matters because hormone treatment is often used to ease symptoms that can affect everyday life in many ways. When several common options are missing at the same time, uncertainty grows for both patients and healthcare providers.
