Espoo to tighten emissions rules for freight traffic in 2030

In certain areas, only zero-emission trucks and vans will be allowed to drive. The plan could force transport companies into costly fleet upgrades.

Espoo is preparing a major change for freight traffic. From 2030 onward, only zero-emission trucks and vans will be allowed in certain parts of the city, ending the use of petrol- and diesel-powered vehicles in those areas.

According to HS, the plan may hit transport companies hardest because they could be forced to buy new vehicles to keep operating there. The move shows how emissions policy is starting to reshape everyday logistics in Finnish cities.
