A man told Yle he can produce 200 deepfake pornographic images a day, drawing attention to a legal gap in Finland that leaves the creation of such material outside current prohibition.
The issue is gaining attention because deepfake sexual content is not only a private harm but also a problem that can affect Finnish schools, workplaces and the military. Yle reported that the law does not currently prevent making this material, even as the technology makes mass production easier.
The case underscores how quickly synthetic sexual abuse images can spread and why lawmakers are under pressure to address the issue. What remains unclear is how soon any legal change could come.
