The Confederation of African Football, CAF, said on Thursday that it continues to support FIFA president Gianni Infantino. In a statement published on its website, CAF said it stands behind FIFA’s apology.

The message matters because CAF is one of football’s most influential regional bodies. HBL reported the statement, but the confederation did not provide further details on what prompted the apology or how long its backing will remain in place.
