Beekeepers in North Karelia are dealing with a growing problem as bears continue to break into hives and steal honey. According to Yle News, the animals are not only getting past electric fences but are digging underneath them to reach the hives.

The situation has pushed beekeepers in eastern Finland to look for new ways to defend their apiaries. What remains clear is that the pressure on hives is increasing, while the best long-term solution is still being sought.
